*** UPDATE! Mac code now available on website! ***
We tell you the best way of converting your Mail Merge into separate PDF documents so that each PDF has an individually defined file name and folder location.
This is done using a Word Macro, so you avoid some horrible complex process, any need for a paid-for third-party plug-in, and if you’ve got that far, any need to re-name and sort out a folder full of PDF files.
In this video we will take you through the process of adding the Macro, setting up the data and running the Mail Merge to PDF.
The Macro is available on our website here:

I'm on a mac and keep getting a '4198' error. When debugging it suggests an error with the singleDoc.SaveAs function. I've checked the column headers in the mail merge data file a thousand times and they are correct. Any ideas?

This is the most useful assistance i have has on the subject in weeks. However, i run into a problem when i run the macro. Its says "Runtime error '5852' and when i hit debug, this portion of the code is highlighted: masterDoc.MailMerge.DataSource.ActiveRecord = wdLastRecord
what could the issue be?
Can I just directly convert it to pdfs without going through the conversion to document then pdf, what is the macro for that.
Thank you!
Thank you thank you thank you –
this is great! I have a question that where should I copy the macro texts? I am not sure what it mean when it said copy the text? where do i go to copy the texts?
Thank you is not enough to show my gratitude sir. It helped me a lot. Thanks a ton
When I run this macro – it does not allow me to go beyond creating a word/PDF beyond first record. I get a run-time error 2147467259 (80004005) that says "We cant save this file because it's read-only. To keep your changes, you'll need to save the document with a new name or in a different location." Please help.
I followed everything step-by-step and I'm getting an error message: Run-time error "5941" The requested member of the collection does not exist. When I click debug it highlights the line masterDoc.MailMerge.DataSource.ActiveRecord= wdLastRecord.
Do you know how to troubleshoot this?
How do I do this on a macbook using numbers or pages?
Thanks so much for this tutorial, used it successfully today to help work through a problem that was otherwise going to require a lot of manual work to achieve
many videos i watched that mail merge just make all participants certificate in 1 file, this is realy helping me to make each pdf participants certificate
FINALLY figured out the "runtime error 5852". For me it had to do with having Sharepoint in my path. Even though I was saving the source docs to my desktop, desktop files were being saved to OneDrive automatically. I had Sharepoint in my path in my excel doc, but this still stopped things cold. I moved my data sets over to a machine that was not networked, and BINGO it worked flawlessly! I'm not a programmer (obviously), so I have no idea why this worked. But it did work flawlessly! the 6 hours to go through every step multiple times was worth it, but yeah, sooooo not a programmer.
This is amazing – thank you so much! I'm now watching the email follow up video!
Not a programmer here. Getting a Run-time error '5853' Invalid Parameter. Any ideas what this is? I've triple checking headings, etc.
I love you, man! You have inspired me in my old age!
