In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how you can convert recorded speech or voices into text for free and with no time limitations. To transcribe audio to text, we use the Windows 10 Dictation tool and combine it with a virtual audio cable. This audio to text converter works surprisingly well and doesn’t cost anything. For this voice to text converter, you need to connect your computer to the internet. Windows Dictation currently supports the following languages:
– Simplified Chinese
– English
– French
– German
– Italian
– Portuguese
– Spanish
You can also use this technique to convert audio to text using Google Docs Voice Typing (CTRL + Shift + S) or Microsoft Word Dictation. Both work very well.

Nothing happens when I use windows key + H
can i use it on mobile??
Great solution! Just used it 🙂
my laptop went mute after i installed the virtual cable
please help
Didn't install
Hello Kevin,
Thanks man for providing this information
As usual you're awesome!
Is it possible to transcribe audio coming from a live zoom call?
Hii, can someone help? It does not work for me as all audio gets automatically softned whenever the dictation mode is on. This also seems to happen whenever the virtual cables are on, as i can see the microphone input drastically soften from the moment I start dictation mode
Hello Kevin! I followed all your steps closely, but after I downloaded the program, when I try to set the output and input, it doesn't find me the VB-Audio Virtual Cable.. Do you have a solution for this case, please? (I have to mention that I have windows 11).
Thanks Kevin for Win + H. I can able to do this without using "VB-Audio Software" by setting my output device to an external speaker and kept it near my laptop mic.
why doesn't this work for me I followed it step by step
Could you please let me know, which camera you are using for recording of videos?
Hi Kevin! Do you know a tool on Mac? Thank you
Anything like this for Mac Kevin??
Excellent video. Thanks for showing how to use existing Dictation tool to transcribe any audio.
Is it beneficial to use the computer for taking phone calls while working, particularly in a call center environment?
I installed the cable but it does not appear as on option for an output
You provide great value as always, Kevin! No skipping ads for you! 🙂
Will try and do as explained. Thanks Kevin.
Nice and helpful content. Really impressive
Wow Awesome Kevin Thanks
Thank you for making this video!! you have saved me so much time!
Very kewl
Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing this. A quick question: can it be that the text file I got in the end had mixed up parts of the audio? Like the things written in the transcript don't match the audio file in time? How do I fix this? Thank you.
Youre brilliant man!! This is exactly what i was looking for..
Sir can we convert even MP3 file to text in this
I will try this out in a few days. I'm the club secretary in my university faculty club. And this is going to be very helpful considering I'm very weak in writing minutes. Plus the committee speaks in mix languages and it's difficult for me to translate it. Thank you so much!
Perfect job, you saved both my time and life. Thanks for such incredible tools for free.. Top job
not working
Thank you very much for your Video. They are very useful for me
it work for 5 secs then it stopped
It doesn't work with MacOS. I set everything up as you said but, unfortunately, the Dictation app doesn't seem to react to the VB-CABLE signal. Actually, when the video player runs without Dictation, there is activity on VB-CABLE app. Similarly, when Dictation is enabled alone, there are signs of activity. As soon as I start both of them, they both die out. Is there another setting I'm missing?
Your tip saved me hours of boring routine. Thank you so much!
thanks buddy..wooooh!totally lifesaver.
Thanks it really help.
My only problem is I have to manually click the record button on speech to keep it work, is there a way to solve that?
What about for Mac pls?
great! many thanks!
my issue is Icant hear the youtube then when I put output to cable input (BV-Audioa virtual cabe)/ Input cable out./ I mean the textscript is working well but I myself cannot hear what the youtube is playing or hear anything at the same time it is transcribing ? what to do?
