Singh is king ❤ thanks for the info man very clearly explained
exactly what I needed, thanks a lot
I have my dashboard linked to an excel file on my laptop. I uploaded it to sharepojnt. If I change the source to the sharepojnt link will I loose my dashboard
Miss u dear Avi, thanks for so much!
Thanks Avi. I'd like to load each of those Binary rows into a separate table rather than combining them into one single table because they all have different contents (columns and rows). I have saved all these tables in one path in a SharePoint. How to da that?
Brilliant!
Hi, thank you for the great video. I need SharePoint folder to practice, can you please provide me?
Excellent video. Your delivery of information is very clear. I do hit one problem when trying to load data from a Sharepoint list, however. If the list field contains a name that comes from the Active Directory Global Address List, it returns the person's GAL ID, e.g., 1054 , not their name.
I have a question, If i decided to use this connection, will my dashboard gets refresh even though my computer is on sleep mode or off?
Hello how can you prevent a person connecting your share point site via this method please
If a new column is added later in the SharePoint list does it impact the refresh? I am facing this problem
there's a much easier way of opening a single file (excel etc.) located in sharepoint. Browse to the file, click the 3 dot menu for the file, click details, scroll down the details pane to find the document web path. Copy this url into Power BI as shown in the video.
Why can't this be done through Power BI Service?
Really helpful, thanks for the effort!
Sharp !!! Thank you !!!
This is an amazing video!! Thank you so much for this
Hi, Excellent work on it. May I ask if can I connect to someone's sharepoint folder that has been shared to me including the sub-folder and sub files. Because here you have query it successfully as it is your own sharepoint folder but what if it is not your sharepoint folder? Makes sense?
Additional on it, I want to query also the version history of the sharepoint folder and files which I do not own but has just shared to me. Thanks!
Great job explaining this sharepoint procedure! Helped me a lot! Subbed!
This is such a great tutorial!
Nice video and your explanation is excellent
EXCELLENT VIDEO THANK YOU!
thanks, it helps a lot 🙂
I do not see the "Copy Path" option in "Info." I wonder if the location of that option was changed or removed.
Thanks Avi. Very clear on the process. I am still facing credentials issue though. Do we need access to the root itself? I just have access on one of the sub-folders where my excel input file resides.
I had this issue/error: "Query 'Parameter1 (2)' (step 'Source') references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination."
solution: File -> Options -> Privacy -> "Always ingore Privacy Level settings"
After that it works.
Is the last half of the video too blurry to read for anyone else?
Hello! Thank you so much for the video. It works. However, I have a report published and it is automatically refresh but it seems to have problems refreshing the Sara form the folder because it is attached to my user. Is there any way to fix this ?
Really Great Stuff!!!
Thanks so much! I was lost!
I was struggling to connect the share point file to PowerBI but after watching this video it was done. Really nice video and thank you Avi for your live example.
thnx man helped me a lot for work !
7:26– Sharepoint List
Great Video thanks!!! Have you covered PowerBI errors by any chance? I constantly get them yet it doesnt seem to affect anything.
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you very much Avi.
Hey Avi, watching your video in 2022 and it helped me a lot! thanks for sharing!
awesome subject , great and detailed content , thanks
This video saved me. Thanks so much for clearing up the jump to combine on SharePoint Folder data sources. When I was trying to refresh data it was breaking because I didn't use the method you showed to exclude all the junk I didn't want from the site so I would get no-key errors.
thank you very much. your video helped me to solve the problem while reading a sharepoint folder in excel using power query.
The first method: You combined several Excel files from a Sharepoint folder. What if those 3 excel files have different columns and data? Will it make 3 seperate queries for it?
Amazing video!
Thank you, mate.
For the ones looking for a way to import a file located in sharepoint ( in a different folder than "Documents") go directly to minute 05:42.
To combine files they must have same header row or you can combine files with different number of columns and headers?
I do not have the option to select SharePoint File, why is that? What can i do to solve it? 🙁 I am using a Power BI Pro licence
Thank you for that tutorial, but main thing for me stays the same – i donk know how to get dashbord refrashed on local company server with power bi dashbords 🙁
And my personal specific is that i am connecting to a lical SharePOint List (not online because sharepoint list online does not have possibiliti to refresh by schadules )
So how it shoud be done ?
Incredible video
